A dental bone graft may be necessary if you have lost significant bone tissue after gum disease or do not have enough available bone to support dental implants. Dr. Alvarado may use the autogenous, xenograft or allograft technique to perform this procedure.

If you have moderate to advanced periodontal disease, osseous surgery (flap surgery) can help to reduce periodontal pockets and improve the health of your gums. Osseous surgery may be the best solution when other treatments have failed and can be very effective for restoring gum health after periodontal disease.
If you have undergone osseous surgery or other periodontal treatments, Dr. Alvarado may set you up for periodontal maintenance therapy to reduce the risk of an infection in the future. This typically involves a series of checkups and deep cleanings to keep the gums infection-free and healthy.
Patients in the early stages of gum disease can benefit from this form of periodontal therapy that can reduce pocket depth by up to three millimeters. It is a nonsurgical treatment that involves cleaning below the gum line and smoothing out the teeth so the gums can reattach.
